Meet Our Team

Small's Music Shop was founded by a group of friends who share a deep love for music and a dream of creating a community hub where musicians can come together to learn, grow, and connect. With years of experience in various fields of the music industry, our team strives to build a music store that offers a wide range of high-quality instruments and accessories, detailed and knowledgable repairs, and a community-focused space to foster growth and support among musicians.

Sam

Sam does drum stuff, skateboards (but only at 7th st) and eats pizza. Sam has been a pillar of the Delaware music scene for close to 25 years, currently fronting Flat and playing drums in Red Birds, in addition to maintaining a catalog of solo work, and writing and distributing Coffee Skull zine in the greater Wilmington area. Sam has put this longstanding passion to good use, amassing an eclectic and varied collection of music gear, drums, pedals, pianos, amps, cymbals, tape machines, keyboards, and more. (Banjos? Ukeleles? Hand instruments?) This shop was inevitable, even if only for more storage space. But this way you get to visit it too.

Mike

Mike began his luthier journey as an apprentice at Dana Sound research, quickly rising to the top and spending 5 years as a Master Apprentice under Dana Sutcliffe, before branching out onto his own and founding Koh Guitars in 2019. His expertise in the field has come naturally after years of being involved in music. Mike started performing at a young age, playing in multiple bands including, Squirrel Friend, MEGA, Mothman Properties, and several others. He continued to grow his talents into his adult life, becoming a pivotal role in the local music scene by booking shows, before forming the weekly band practice livestream turned internet phenomenon: Koh Show Live.

Julia

Growing up in a family of musicians, Julia was always surrounded by music. Starting from her first experience operating sound equipment for the local high school theater group, she realized that a crucial support role was necessary to create a successful event, and found her home in live music production and organization. Inspired by the shows and festivals of her youth, she began organizing events in Delaware before joining the crew at Koh Show, where she is on the videography team and assists with administration. She has recently utilized these skills to give back to the community, teaming up with Gingerfox Productions to form the Original Music Association of Delaware, a nonprofit focused on aiding and promoting original musicians in the state.
